On our last visit, the vet called Amelia the “o” word. You know… obese. How rude.
I had always thought of her as just being somewhat stout. The sad truth is, that as a house kitty, she had grown a bit lazy. She wanted nothing to do with the special diet food from the vet, and my attempts to keep her moving beyond her normal routine proved fruitless. We needed something to get our (no longer so) tiny creature on the road to a higher activity level. Something like… a persistent playmate.
Meet Olive. After numerous visits to the local feline rescue, where there were some very lovely creatures to choose from, we arrived home with a most ordinary looking kitten of extraordinary personality.
Happy Caturday! =^..^=

I am working on that picture. It may be a while yet, as when they do play, they are a tumbling or whizzing blur of colors, even to my eye, and by the time I grab the camera, they are done! Plus, while Amelia seems to love to be in front of the camera, Olive is camera shy.
I know! I prefer to tell people that she is stout and sturdy. π

I didn’t know that you had another blog! At a glance, it is hilarious! I will stop by in a little bit and give it a closer read. I am surprised that you decided to post it in English, although I have to admit that it makes it easier for me to read. I use the browser translator for your other blog, and it is a little hit and miss in the translation. Even funnier still, when I comment on it in English, and the browser translates it twice or even thrice. That alone is a good laugh!

I had it in French in first : http://burntoastc.wordpress.com/
“‘L’Art du Croquet”, but I wanted to translate it for somebody in Sacramento (CA), and eventually other english readers.
That was not so easier, with my kind of humour π π

Your humor did come across strangely using the online translator. The first time I saw your blog, I thought you had a bizarre obsession with chickens! hahaa

Oooh! What a cutie! I just love her expression, makes me want to just grab her and give her a squeeze! We have a new family member as well, however, he is not as attractive as your little sweetie.

She is a sweetheart. She is at that age where she is hard to squeeze. She only wants to play, and so just when I think I have caught her, she squirts away! Once she tires out though, she is quite the love bug. You haver a new family member too? I am sure that he is lervely. Pictures! Get to it! *snap, snap*

Oh dear, let’s hope not! I am hoping that it will go the other way around! Elvira is beautiful! Yes, Amelia really needs to get moving! She is the laziest cat I have ever owned, and so young too, but the vet didn’t find anything particularly wrong with her other than her weight.
Thank you!

It’s been a whirlwind of things. I haven’t posted on LJ for a year now, LOL. I got a message from somebody who’s still on LJ but dropped Facebook asking what was going on…
Let’s see:
I have another job (was let go from the job that I left Oracle for. Horrid place/culture to work for, and I was looking before being laid off). Scrambled for 4 months looking for employment before finding another job (just passed my 90 days probationary period, so I’m permanent now) where I’m working out of my house. The company is based out of California, so it makes for interesting times…
The doggie situation… Oh my. Where to begin!
You know about Murphy, of course. I’m not sure if you know about Sierra, but she came into our lives in February, 2011. She’s a beautiful white standard poodle who is a petite powerhouse of fluff.
And then, there was three…
Teagan, who is actually related to Murphy on the dam’s side (her mommy was a direct littermate of Murphy’s sire), joined us on March 17th. She’s 9 months old, and oh man, she is a pistol! Very loving girl. She will be Debbie’s foundation bitch for her own line. Debbie flew all the way down to Texas to get her. So much more to talk about…

Sandy! I’m sorry I’m late! I got the comment notification on my phone, and thought, “I’ll get back to her when I’m home.” *hangs head in shame*
I remember how upset your were when your company was absorbed by Oracle, and how much you couldn’t stand the place. I’m so glad that you found another job. How do you like working from home? I did it for a bit, and it had some good and bad points.
Three! Your home is now filled with poodle-y goodness! It’s weird not being on facebook and having LJ so vacant. I miss seeing everyone’s photos and hearing about what is new. LJ more so than facebook. FB always felt shallow, and like many were putting on a performance. Yes, we need to catch up, and I’m sorry I’m late!
