“Where is my post?!” For as long as there have been blogs and social sites, so have there been too, the vanishing posts. Endless words and beloved images, posted one day, and gone the next.
“Did you delete my post? I thought we were friends?! Why did you do that?” (insert un-smiley face)
“No! I swear I didn’t! Really!” (insert heart)
“Ok.” (insert smiley face) *I know you did. You suck.*
They accused in comment fields, whispered over the telephone lines, and oh, how the drama stirred. Friends became not, and families sat at the dinner table, silent, sullen. What was being hidden? Why was something deleted? After all, things didn’t just disappear. Some tried to reason, theorizing site malfunctions, update hiccups, and offline browsers. Yet, even they could not hold back the need to point a finger. “Stupid site! You ruiner!”
Sally looked fondly upon a screen. “Perhaps… No, no, no. That won’t do.” She shifted her eyes to the next one, and then the next. Up and down, and completely around, so many were the squares of light, that they hid the walls, the ceiling, and even the floor of Sally’s room. “Ahhh! That’s the one!” She dragged her hooked finger across the screen. “That looks… wonderful.” The image of a cupcake reflected in her eyes, all eight of them. “It shall be mine.”
It was then that she noticed me standing there. “What? I am, after all, a spider. My life, a simple one. I take what is caught in the web.” She spun the screen around and around before finally, inserting a straw. “You humans, you create such drama over pixels on a screen, a mere a midnight snack.”
In the blink of an eye, the cupcake was gone. In its place, a comment then appeared. “Why did you delete my Happy Birthday comment?” (insert un-smiley face)

I don’t really care about this kind of trouble, it’s not a question of life and death. The internet is not perfect and spiders can attack when they want. We’re human beings so we have to explain as humans.

You’re right, we humans are always asking, “Why?” We’re inquisitive, often to a fault. I prefer to imagine that some living gremlin of sorts is gobbling it all up, and just leave it at that. (insert smiley face)

D’oh! I didn’t think to ask her age or where she was from. Would that have been rude of me? Being as how we had just met, and such.

Now you know it is never really polite to ask a woman’s age, even when you are friends, but obviously, you can’t just by the lines on her neck seeing she does’t have one!

When a post is deleted on my Blog, I know that it is a family ghost named “Le Tapinois” who did it. “En tapinois” in french means “furtivly”. When one of my post is deleted (everywhere), it’s obviously ẄWẄ.

Oh, how we love to blame! You do seem to enjoy pointing the finger at ẄWẄ. I blame my husband for almost everything. I tell him it is always his fault – everything. He takes it quite well. 😉

Very creative of you, a really cute story and very plausible explanation. I have always blamed the Romulans.

Electricity withdrawals have that effect on me. The Romulans are very blamable. Whenever something is rotten in the state of Denmark, I first suspect Romulans.
