One of my favorite people in photos in Conrad Veidt. He’s not the easiest fellow to find a great quality photo of though, and the images we see tend to be the same ones over and over again. Yesterday, while digging around in the computer for something else, I came across this lervely, which I had obviously placed in the wrong folder some time ago. It was like, Holy shmoly, roly-poly! How long have I been sitting on this photo of Conrad Veidt?!
This one taken for his role as the Marquis de Pontignac in Ich und die Kaiserin (1933). Photographer unknown to me.

I do too. I think that’s one of the things that I really like about these photos of celebrities and films of past, that a lot of character really comes across. It’s in their dress, their posture, their expressions. Most modern shots today look more like we’re looking at photos of models in wardrobe.
